Lancashire Manor House

Today we went over the border to Bolton.  It was a lovely sunny day, but still a chilly breeze - 
Dating from 1335 and set in 2,000 acres of land on the edge of the West Pennine Moors, Smithills Hall is one of the oldest and best preserved manor houses in the North West of England.
It's a really lovely place, and very interesting inside.  Unfortunately part of the Hall was closed for renovation work, but we were told it should be finished by the end of this month.  We will return :-)
