Day4: Thursday
Another early start. Thank goodness sunrise isn't at 6:30am!! Pack, bus & depart. Change of plans today given the overnight weather & we're heading toward the mountains. First stop was a grassy area with a river. Low cloud meant the vista was a bit disappointing- but a good chance to manipulate the camera in different ways to try for a better outcome.
A bit further up the road was our next stop. A crystal clear 'glacial' river running fast & over mossy rocks. A few places to find those location shots, as long as you're nimble enough to get up & down the rocks & under low lying bridges.
Up the road, we had a bit of a wait for our turn through the tunnel, surrounded by 360 degrees views of the snow capped mountains. We jumped out & happy snapped. The thing about doing a photography tour; is that you don't always take photos to tell the story. Instead looking through the view finder for the photo you hope to capture.
A stop at the viewing place on the other side before the short drive down the mt to Milford Sound Lodge. A gorgeous location a short drive from the busy tourist area that is Milford Sound. Overlooking the river, surrounded by the towering peaks around.
Lunch & some down time before heading for sunset.
Tonight's was tough, long shadows, no cloud, early moon rise made for more monochrome conditions. When we got back to the Lodge it was in the midst of (another) blackout. Having to get a generator brought in it was yet to be connected & fired up. Drinks & chips before dinner served at 8:30ish. A couple of Astro photos while I packed up. Bed before 11pm.... out of necessity.
PS: again not sure exactly where this is but will endeavour to find out
