Cardboard Warriors

"So, camping scouts", says the leader "pick a hero, get them kitted up in cardboard armour , then let's joust!"

Silly, creative and active play. Something that appealed to the quieter creative scouts and the ones dead keen to jump around challenging another similarly clad competitor. Lots of laughs.

Me, I watched, cheered, encouraged the warriors, and then sloped off to work very hard as part of the catering team to feed 85 mouths. It was good fun, and I bizarrely love the physicality and adrenalin rush of it all.

When every bucket of hot water for dishwashing 85 plates needs to be collected from a central tap by one of the team, and then heated on a jet boiler, the modern idea of a hot tap seems wonderful.
