Huntley's Cave.....

on the sort of day when Lewis Gordon, third Marquis of Huntly would wonder why he was hiding here and not in a warm and dry castle! It was much cooler and mizzly today, but just meant it was better to walk faster.
Young Lewis was hiding here from his enemies in the mid 17th century, but was near to the home of his future wife, who sustained him in his troubles by bringing food.
Seemed to be a repeated family trait, as his father had hidden here too in his youth, albeit for a shorter time.
Lewis was an adventurer and fought for France, Scotland and England at different times in his short life. He died aged about 26, leaving his widow with four young children!
