Felt inexplicably and annoyingly a bit under the weather today. Last week's bug outstaying its welcome probably but when it's such a lovely day I'd really rather be firing on all cylinders.

A bit of revision then in the afternoon carried hundreds of cans around the garden rescuing all the shrubs which have been really struggling in the drought. And potted on some tomatoes, evicted some slugs lurking among the seedlings and moved on the dahlias and cosmos from the cold frame to the big wide world (during the day anyway).

W has taken charge of the cooking for tonight: always involves much cursing and many pans but is inevitably greeted with far more enthusiasm by the boys than anything I put on the table. Apart from Christmas lunch.

Son 2 took part in the final match ever for his footy team: a charity match to raise money for the hospital ward which has been treating his team's manager. By all accounts a huge success but a very poignant occasion for all.
