overnight crop

Just a few days ago there was only one of these orange beauties in bloom. I was shocked to see how many had seemingly sprouted up over night! They grow wild on the berm by the side of the road we walk each day. I have no idea what they are called (I had been calling them Indian Paintbrush, but when I looked up that name it didn't match the plant).
The weather has really warmed up here and I am eager to get some flowering plants for my back porch. But I know I need to be patient, we could still have a cold snap before the end of May.
