Male Lesser Redpoll
Another shot of birds on the feeders I am afraid. The Sunday lie in coupled with a busy day gave few chances for photography. The redpolls are regular but fairly infrequent visitors to the feeding station. In winter I am never totally sure of the sub species as there are 3 possibles then - the Lesser, the Common and Arctic.
With the winter visitors gone I can be sure this is a male Lesser in breeding plumage. The other bird on the feeder is a Siskin, greatly reduced in numbers since mid winter when we could see 20 or so at a time. Two or 3 is normal now. Nothing else of interest or importance happened so I will leave it there.
