Darwen Tower
Another Darwen Tower image. I've posted a few of the tower over the seasons from different angles. It's a great structure built to commemorate the Diamond ju bilee of Queen Vic. The top was blown off in the winter gales of 2010 and local firm made a new one as part of it's engineering apprenticeship scheme which in a way reflects the fact that the tower was funded by public subscription in 1897. The moors are a much loved playground of local folk from walkers to mountain bikers to horseriders. It's a 15 min drive from my house and makes a great short half day out once you have done your morning jobs and before you have your father in law tea. The heather is just still showing colour.
