Fiddlehead Season!

Dear Diary,

Strictly speaking, these are not fiddlehead ferns but they don't grow around my house so these ferns will have to do.  There are four foods that say "Maine" to me, maple syrup, lobsters, blueberries and fiddleheads.  They are a springtime treat cooked a bit like asparagus. 

I do like the way ferns unfurl in the spring too.  So tightly wound, they slowly release all that pent up energy.  If I had to think of this picture metaphorically I think I would say, "potential".  That's how I think of spring too, all that new growth yet to happen, just re-awakening from a long winter sleep...sort of like how we wake up in the morning and stretch.  Yes, spring time is like early morning I would say.
