Sunset, Seashore, Shark
How could one flower evoke so many images? According to wikipedia: "The water lily has a special place in Sangam literature and Tamil poetics, where it is considered symbolic of the grief of separation; it is considered to evoke imagery of the sunset, the seashore, and the shark." I am in Silverton, Oregon for a retreat held at a rustic hotel attached to the Oregon Gardens. This is a delightful time of year to be here as a wide variety of plants, including the waterlily above, rhododendron, azalea, dogwood, iris and many other plants are blooming in the garden.
