Snow Down Under

UP THE VALLEY:

I was putting clothes away in my bedroom after an ironing session & thought the view was worth another blip, especially as we're allowed 2 entries. This is looking across the lake to the Matukituki which is in the Mount Aspiring National Park. The road skirts round the lake, passes the spectacular Motatapu alpine farmland that the Canadian singer, Shania Twain bought a few moons ago (but has since been taken over by her then husband), goes under the Treble Cone skifield & deposits you at the beginning of the Rob Roy Glacier walk. Admittedly it is dirt for part of the way, but to my way of thinking, if you're ever in this part of the world, this is the finest drive & walk you can do. Yay, under those far away mountains is a spectacular alpine valley. Take my word, it is fantastic. You won't regret it.
