Squirrel on speed
I took my Mom for an ultrasound scan today and she had to fast before going. I thought she deserved a little treat after it all so we went to a little tea shop called "Mad as a Hatter". It is Alice in Wonderland themed and has all sorts of strange little things all over the walls. These squirrels are just two of them! i thought they were rather bizarre. As was the toliet decorated to make you feel you were in a goldfish bowl with the goldfish! (See extra)
Mom enjoyed it once she had settled down and stopped being scared.
She had to have a liver scan as they are worried about some of the levels revealed in a series of blood tests. They are also concerned about her Vitamin D levels. These are the least of our worries about her as her dementia progresses and she becomes increasingly frightened and confused about what is going on around her. We had to go to a place neither of us had been to before this morning for the scan so I went to suss it out last night and there was an enormous car park. I was happy. Of course when we got there this morning it was absolutely chaotic with nowhere to park at all. I had to abandon the car in the middle of the car park to take Mom in. A very nice lady gave up a seat for her and another very nice lady sitting next to her looked after her while I went to try to find somewhere to park. Not an easy situation, but thanks to the kindness of strangers we managed to deal with it all.
When we got home, Dad showed me his disabled parking permit - it expired on 3 March! Add the job to the list! That and the ironing as Mom is now scared that she is going to burn herself every time she picks up the iron.
Tricky! But we had fun at the tea shop and she was very grateful.
Beautiful weather here today.
