Going For A Walk
It is early September and the time of the year when six like-minded friends get together in a field somewhere in England. It's a biannual event. The first is always in May and the second this month.
We're an unlikely group made up of a railway communications engineer, a construction industry sales manager, a bid manager for military communications, a self employed tools and fittings merchant and a couple of posties.
But none of that is important. All of it is left behind for two weekends of the year. These weekends are for good uncomplicated fun in rural parts of the country.
I'm a big fan of North Norfolk, our current destination. The camp site at Stiffkey is a good one and popular (particularly when summer decides to arrive late and in full strength). It's a small village with a very good pub and shop. Any thing else is beyond our needs (I needn't mention that a good pub serves good real ale did I?)
Here we are at the Stiffkey Red Lion, planning the weekend's route. We should finish the second half of the Norfolk Coast Path from Hunstanton to Wells-Next-The-Sea over the three days. Easily.
Woodforde's Wherry tastes better than ever. I'd better get another in and check the plan.
