Peony

Paeonia lactiflora '??' was in the garden when we moved here. Since then it's quietly produced a few babies and they all explode with colour around this time of year. The shade is much more intense in real life but try as I might I don't seem to be able to make the camera capture it accurately or tweak the image afterwards (although RAW editing software is still hugely baffling so I'm probably missing several tricks).
