Ocean Waste

I apologize in advance for posting this photo but it left an impact on me after I came across this guillemot on the beach this afternoon.   The fishing net had lodged in its beaked and wrapped across its head.   I'm guessing that it would have been diving - I suspect the bird was unable to feed and probably had a slow death.   For information the normal life expectancy of a guillemot is over 10 years.
