The Newbies

Through a variety of unexpected turns I found myself having an excellent dinner tonight in the Parliament's restaurant cooked by a number of those involved in the #YesChef2017 challenge organised by Action for Children Scotland for former young offenders.

It was a superb meal, enjoyed in the company of a number of colleagues including the self styled "Newbies" - a group of SNP MSPs who were elected last year and for whom today marks the first anniversary of their introduction to the Parliament.

I am in no doubt these emerging and very talented politicians will play a big role in guiding our country forward. But, to turn the Oscar Wilde quote on its head, my job as their dinner companion & photographer tonight was (being 'all the old could do for the young" ) to "shock them and keep them up to date"............
