Nature
These robins have built a nest in the ivy less than 2 foot from my patio door. I think they arrived when I was away in April and thought it might be a quiet spot. Today Mowgli and I watched them for half an hour - one of them never swallowed the worm in its mouth, but saved it for its mate. There must be chicks in the nest if both parents are out, but I hear nothing.
On a sad note the starlings nesting in my neighbour's soffit/fascia didn't make it, either some or all of them. Two days ago the mother was very distressed around the area of the nest, calling and looking for its young. But they never responded. That day the house had been power washed and painted. This must have affected them unfortunately.
And on a happy note Mowgli met two of her sisters from different broods yesterday. The humans had heard all about Mowgli and when they heard me call her name after her swim they were delighted (ok, maybe that's an exaggeration). A lovely sisters reunion followed.
Thanks for all the gorse cordial interest. It tastes good so far, but I need to taste it with tonic water and ice to give a true comment. I will.
