The Wainstones

Today was a bit up and down. Well a lot up and down actually. The type of hike where you ascend a knee-aching climb to reach the summit only to see a knee-aching descent and another climb beyond.
Most of the moorland tracks are paved with rough stone slabs with cobbled steps on the steep parts - easy to find your way but you do need to watch your step and it's hard on the feet and knees.
My destination today was the Wainstones where a phone call summoned a lift from the road crossing 30 minutes further on, into Great Broughton and the Wainstones Hotel.

About 13 miles, 6 hours with a short stop for lunch with a view (extra)
