Durham, Freya, Seaham, glass and Staithes

We left out Shepherd's Hut and headed for Durham where we were going to see Freya for a couple of days.

We got there about midday, had a bite to eat and then headed to Seaham.

The once thriving glass industry historically dumped its waste products in the sea and nature is now getting her revenge and dumping them back on the beach, smooth and highly polished.  Collecting these 'gems' is a pastime for the locals, visitors and Isobel, whatever the conditions!!

After collecting a pocketful we headed to the seaside port of Staithes, which amongst other things, can now claim to be the setting for CBeebies Old Jack's Boat!!
