Had a trip to hospital today...no queue, seen straight away.
The patient...a young injured starling that had flown into our window. It seemed physically alright but was behaving strangely and after an hour we decided to take it to the local wildlife rescue centre at Hessilhead which is a couple of miles away.
The chap there said he thought the starling had a virus which they'd first detected some thirty years ago and which is on the increase. The birds lose their ability to co-ordinate their movements and their heads and tail feathers are at an angle.
This wee fellas head was certainly at an angle which is what made me think there was something odd in the first place.
They think it is connected to cattle.
