Ruff - Calidris pugnax
The ruff is a migratory species, breeding in wetlands in colder regions of northern Eurasia, and spends the northern winter in the tropics, mainly in Africa. It is seen rarely along the east and west coast of North America. This image was taken in the Salt Pannes at Allens Pond Massachusetts Audubon Sanctuary, Dartmouth Massachusetts and is the first sighting at this location
