Heir hunters
I did a little bit of research about my husbands Irish family last year.
His auntie asked me for a copy so I sent it through yesterday and then out of sheer intrigue started digging a bit more.
Me and my father in law spent most of the morning and a little bit of the afternoon digging and digging.
We found out his grandmother definitely died in Ireland which is contrary to family stories. We are unable to find the grandfather who is last found in Scotland in 1898.
We found the will which willed the farmland of his grandfather to the neighbours and not to the rest of the family. My father in law was bought up in abject poverty while the farmland which felt like it was rightfully theirs sat around the corner.
We found the marriage of his mother and father, clearly they married as she was pregnant. Sadly the baby died in infancy. His mother died aged 35. All really fascinating. I am so sorry I am not commenting much. Life goes back to normal next week when my father in law goes back to Ireland x
