Give peace a chance...

Had a slightly longer walk than anticipated going in search of the Mac shop...two hours later I finally made it home! My journey took me past this lovely statue so was worth the the trek. The statue, installed in 1975, demonstrates the city's commitment to a peaceful port as it doesn't allow nuclear-armed warships to enter the port on the grounds it might 'cause the citizens uneasiness.'

History cannot give us a program for the future, but it can give us a fuller understanding of ourselves, and of our common humanity, so that we can better face the future.
