Big kid
There was a Harry Potter workshop happening today for over 9s at the Royal College. They said to me when I was booking her other courses for summer that because she's doing so well they would love her to join them for this one. We couldn't say no!
Despite a very late night, after a very early start, katie was still up by 630. We had a great time at the piano together learning some of the "He's a Pirate" duet. It was a bit exciting as when we first started making our regular London trips about 18months ago, there was no way either of us could have done it but Katie loved hearing Kay and Tom play it beautifully & joined in with a single repeated note. Today she and I played the first page!
Aunty Kay took us to the tube and we headed in to the city. When we arrived at South Kensington, her whole body lifted- literally, in the way that is Katie. She squeals and grins and spins and twirls when we see the College and Albert Hall signposted.
I dropped her off at the Royal College of Music in the theatre. She was so excited. I left her enjoying her morning and had morning coffee with a lovely friend.
She did a great job of their performance, in stage in the Britten Theatre. She had a wee duet bit with the clarinetist from the College and was awesome. She told me later how much she loved being with the bigger kids and how it made her feel more grown up, bless her.
After their performance, we walked over to the Albert Hall for the Harry Potter in Concert performance. It was amazing!!!! The whole film was shown, but with the Royal Philharmonic playing the entire score, right through to the end of the credits. It was wonderful. We both love the soundtrack anyway, but it brought it to life in such a fantastic way. Plus, as is the way with all things Harry Potter, there were lots of very enthusiastic fans so the whole Albert hall clapping and cheering to the film made it even more fun.
We got a tube and went to meet a friend who is coming home with us to run a race in our hometown tomorrow so drove us home! Katie fought sleep for quite a while but eventually gave in. It's been a fabulous day!!
