Someone's getting too big for their boots

Watched '12 Years a Slave' last night. As is the case with other films, series on the subject of slavery, it made for very uncomfortable viewing and therefore it's not easy to describe it as a good film, but definitely one that should be watched. It's easy to sneer at and condemn the behaviour of the people that used slaves but the uncomfortable question at the back of your mind is always 'how would I have behaved?'. Of course we all like to think that we would have behaved differently but that is from our perspective with our values system. You only have to look back to Victorian England to see something not so very different, OK they were called servants rather than slaves but they were still treated poorly and viewed as 'different' and as 'property'.

All a bit deep for a Sunday morning - think I need to get out on the bike and work off some of my frustrations. Do beep your horn if you pass me on the roads, I will be the one with the skinny white legs and baggy shorts.
