The Old Churchyard

This is an old graveyard very near us which is managed in a wildlife friendly way and it's normally a lovely place to spend a tranquil moment or two. It carpets itself successionally in spring with snowdrops, crocuses and primroses to be followed later by swathes of cow parsley and in the autumn, cyclamen.  Just a few patches of bluebells though. This evening though when we went up there for a wander with our cameras there was a small but scary looking lady with her camera, tripod and even scarier flash system. She pointedly ignored us while she importantly took lots of complicated macro shots of a cow parsley floret then stalked off towards the gate. Just as she got there she turned on her heel and then stomped back towards us and proceeded to tell us off for not taking enough care and didn't we know how precious the place was. '"We manage this place VERY CAREFULLY for the church". Well, it just so happens that for several years I volunteered with the conservation group which looks after the churchyard and so I was able to reassure her that I did indeed know how precious it was and that we'd been mindful of that in our wanderings and sorry if she thought we'd been out of order. I don't really understand though why she couldn't have taken a more friendly attitude - you don't have to go all shouty and bossy on people. It doesn't usually end up having a happy ending.
