Mothering Sunday
Dear Diary,
Every Mother's Day I post a photo of either my grandmother or my mother. This year I will take a page out of the English tradition of "Mothering Sunday", where you celebrate all the women who have mothered you throughout your life. These are mine.
Of course, my grandmother and mother are there but also my dear Auntie Doris, lower left, and dear, dear Dotty, lower right. These women were very much like mothers to me. I consider myself very lucky to have had these women in my life.
I never had the opportunity to be a mother myself but I "mothered" countless young children through my work as a teacher so maybe that counts a little. I know that the women who have a profound impact on your life are numerous and today we celebrate them all.
“Being a mother is an attitude, not a biological relation.”
