Book club again!!!

Blipping early, rather than doing it after 10pm!!

Caught a glimpse of the neighbour's cat this morning, whilst the birds were having a feeding frenzy. Fortunately he just ignored them and passed on through the garden.

Emergency dental appointment and a chance whilst in town to buy a pattern and wool to make a cardigan for Annie for her birthday next month. Haven't knitted for about 6yrs when I did a Bagpuss (pink and cream cat with stripes - for those who don't recognise the name from kids TV many years ago) for a friend's baby.

Only 3 weeks since the last book club meeting, but the date suits most of the group members. Interesting reading this time. The three books illustrate the lives of women at different points in time and different parts of the world.

Kashmir Shawl - set in India / Kashmir in the 1940's. The lives of women whose husbands' work took them to that part of the world.

Mrs Robinson's disgrace - the risks of keeping a journal containing fact or fiction!! Set in Britain in the 1850's when women had no property or rights and were the chattels of their husband!! Based on divorce court records and documents of the time, an interesting insight into British social history.

The Colour - set in New Zealand in the 1860's. Settlers from Norfolk, England, who moved to the Christchurch area to farm at the time of the discovery of gold. Haven't finished this book yet but will do over the weekend.

The plan is not to collect any books at this meeting, I already have several to read and will miss the next meeting.

Today is 9/11 an awful date in history that no one will ever forget and will always ask the question, Why!!!
