Great Rock

High on the moors (1,017 ft a.s.l) above Todmorden is Great Rock. Standing beside the Calderdale Way, this 35ft high millstone outcrop offers spectacular views across the Calder Valley to Stoodley Pike (see extra).
The rock is covered with carvings of names and dates and, whilst I spent many hours climbing the rock in my youth, I never carved my name on it. 
Maybe I missed out on a chance of immortality :-)
