Mary Stanford lifeboat house

The Mary Stanford was a lifeboat which capsized in Rye Harbour on 15 November 1928 and tragically the 17-man crew were all drowned .

This is the biggest loss of life from a single lifeboat in the history of the RNLI.

The Mary Stanford lifeboat house was never used again. It ts a grade 2 listed building but quite derelict and stands alone on the beach 1.5 miles from Rye Harbour.
