Big Apple

Haven't actually found out why it's called the big Apple but day 2 here and rain has stopped and sun came through peaking through!

Early breakfast and off to the Empire State Building, amazing building and this is a view from it.

We walked from there to the Flat Iron Building and then via the subway to Broad Street and out onto Wall Street where we saw The Trump Building, New York Stock Exchange and Federal Statement Building.

We then walked down to Trinity Church, Wall Street, where we managed to take part in the last part of the Sunday Service and Matthew and I managed to ring with the local ringers....never thought I'd ring in USA!

Rest of the day we visited 9/11 memorial, so moving, had a coke in the burger king that was used by NYPD as head quarters in the days after 9/11. Then on to St Paul Chapel, Brooklyn Bridge, Pier 17 overlooking Brooklyn Bridge...back to the hotel for tea....brought from supermarket.

At dusk we headed out again to see Times Square, Rockafella Plaza, St Patricks Cathedral, Grand Central Station (totally awesome building with 122 tracks!) Then back to hotel for a much needed sleep after a total of 11 miles walked!

An amazing day with lots packed in, NYC is much less intimidating than I imagined and folk helpful and friendly.
