Thumbs Up

As if I hadn’t seen enough of this place already this year, I am back at Southampton University  Hospital today on a mission.
Don’t get me wrong, my unexpected yet enforced stay for six weeks earlier in the year was a lifesaver and I am full of admiration for the treatment here.
Indeed, my thanks are due to the cardiac team and the coronary care department here for the treatment I received from diagnosis of my heart condition through eventual surgery and then recovery. One reads and hears of many complaints and criticisms of the NHS, that you might rue the day that a hospital stay is necessary.
But then, the cardiac team at Southampton’s General Hospital holds the reputation to be among the best in the country, so I drew comfort that I was in good hands.
Now three months on, and the anticipated recovery period involving strict limitations on what I can and cannot do, nearing an end, my mission today is to gain re-assurance that all is going well from the cardiac specialists.

Better than that, the thumbs up I received, hopefully closes a chapter on a traumatic and unexpected turn in  life.
Lifesaver, indeed!
