DR Daylight
Yesterday we heard that we could share with C and P, island neighbors, a day of “DR Daylight”,… expert tree feller who comes by boat from Saturna Island. We’ve have him before but not recently. When we bought this place, in 1990, we were city-bred tree huggers and only cut what was necessary in order to build the cabin. Now of course we are wishing we had cleared more around the building. So little by little,... and when we need to replenish the woodshed, we have DR Daylight. He came in a big north wind this am to the neighbors but it got nicer and nicer all day. Ian is such a hard worker … and he’s 70! So here is his portrait, sorry it’s a bit soft, but I like this one anyway… the extras show the biggest of the 5 trees he felled today..this one right next to the cabin,, (I was standing a good ways away but of course it went down bang! just where it was planned!)..
As if H didn't have enuf to do already, now there are weeks of cleanup and splitting wood ahead. (where is the family clean up crew?) Forget the windows, decks, garden, etc. Oh well. Soon I can wash the dishes and more useful stuff.
and the frosting on the cake for today is that C (blipper Islandcat) and P are coming for dinner tonight AND BRINGING DINNER! What a splendid day! Added an extra of them on the SUNNY deck before dinner.
