Mary Queen of Scots Stood Here .....
For the second time in less than a week I was treated to a meal at Stonehaven's Carron Art Deco Restaurant today. Lovely food and good company. Hake and Aberdeen Angus featherblade beef on the menu. Lovely.
After the lunch we set off to the hidden gem of Stonehaven, Dunnotter Castle. Once described as "the most impregnable fortress in Scotland" and having stunning views over the North Sea it withstood Cromwell for 8 months and was visited by Mary Queen of Scots. I think she stood on this very spot ..............
