Sorrento Sunset

We were up at 3.15am and at the airport for 5am. I'd booked assistance for mum which was great as we had a special bag drop and once we'd got through security and been to duty free, we went to the Special Assistance desk. They gave her a buzzer and told us to have a seat for 5 minutes at which point it started buzzing and we were escorted downstairs to a waiting buggy.

There were three other people on the buggy who were on our flight, and we arrived at the gate before it had been announced. They checked our passports and boarding cards and we were able to board the plane before everyone else.

The flight was great, we left on time, landed 20 Minutes early and our transfer to the hotel was there waiting for us. The only downer on the day was that my case appears to have been dropped in yellow paint! I went to report it as it's not a cheap case and it's not very old, but I was told that isn't classed as damage! So now I need to take it up with BA.

We got to the hotel just after midday and our room was ready so we unpacked, and then caught the hotel shuttle bus into the town centre. We went on a horse and carriage ride after bartering him down to €35 from €50, albeit I think he cut the ride short! Then we had a drink in the main square and meandered through the little shopping streets, before catching the bus back to the hotel.

Mum was very tired so went for a nap while I went for a swim, and tonight we've had dinner in the hotel. The food was fantastic and reasonably priced, and the restaurant looks out to sea, so I was able to spot the sunset and nipped out to get some shots. Whilst I have got a very 'red' sunset, I like the shimmer on the sea here.

Today was mum's 82nd birthday so it's been a lovely way to celebrate!

Anyway, we're both tired so are having an early night as we've got a full day excursion to Capri tomorrow.

Night night x
