Kutuzov

There's new mural going up in Moscow, this one of Mikhail Kutuzov, the general who defeated Napoleon in 1812. At this stage of the painting, I noticed that his right eye was a transparent hue; it seemed as if they had run out of paint and were awaiting a resupply.  However, it turns out that the eye was damaged during one of several wars he fought in.  In this instance, fighting the Turks in Crimea in the 1770s.  An interesting interview about the eye here, with Brian Cox, the actor who played Kutuzov in the TV series, War and Peace.
