Cong, Westport, West Ireland

Serene village with real sense of history. This is a fishing hut used by the monks at the, now ruined, nearby Abbey.  Local castle beautifully restored and turned into a 5* hotel but rather marred the serenity by 1. The three (!) Helicopters that were taking off as we approached, presumably ferrying guests somewhere and 2. The clay pigeon shooting that some guests were indulging themselves with.  But I assume/hope the hotels guests inject funds into the village.

Villiage famous for being the setting of a 1950s cult movie "The Quiet Man".  They are obviously very proud of that. Must see it.
