The Red Estelada

Today is Catalonia's national day .

It is also the 15th anniversary of the Scottish Devolution referendum as well as being the date of the Battle of Stirling Bridge and - most poignantly of all - the eleventh marking of the infamous and chilling events of 9/11.

Just before I went in to vote at 5.00 this evening I looked out from the Parliament and saw this young man standing in front of the public entrance holding the Estelada , and the socialist one at that , with the red star on it.

He was attracting some curiosity so I think he - and Catalonia - deserve a blip tonight. Not least because a million and a half other supporters of Catalan independence gathered in Barcelona to show their preference this evening .
