When hearts scream
The sound of millions of hearts all over the world screaming in horror is much louder than that of dark hearts rejoicing, or the tearing and mangling of steel that drowns out the cries of the dying. And long long ago, the memory of this day in my childhood that is as clear as if it happened today.

There are now two large holes in the roof next door as they dismantle their upstairs interior walls and fill up the dumpster at a rapid pace. I know the sounds the tools make from experience, and when I heard the reciprocating saw fire up, I knew it was time for another picture as they sawed through roof tiles, sheeting and rafters. I think I'm enjoying it more than the homeowners. They seem rather stressed.
