Milton Abbas Village

Milton Abbas sits in a beautiful valley of farm land and trees in Dorset.

It's beginnings go as far back as the fifteenth century,(The Abbey even further back) the village was relocated into a long street one house wide and most of them like these thatched cottages, a pub at the top of the hill. A church and an Alms House where the homeless or poor people could get shelter, it has now been restored.

Apparently the village was relocated around 1779 because the Baron did not want the village spoiling his view from the huge Gothic Mansion which was built from 1718 with several architectures involved over the next 60yrs. There is a huge lake and beautiful wooded countryside. The huge Abbey stands beside the Mansion.

The Mansion is now Milton Abbey School for boys founded 1953.
