Election day

The Netherlands has a multi-party system, with numerous parties in which usually no one party ever secures an overall majority of votes.
The national level, the legislative power is invested in the States-General (Staten-Generaal), which is bicameral. The Senate (Eerste Kamer), which has 75 members is elected for a four year term through the provincial councillors on the basis of the proportional representation at the provincial elections. House of Representatives (Tweede Kamer) has 150 members, elected directly by the people for a four year term. Several parties must cooperate to form a coalition government.
This term, the coalition failed after 1,5 year which resulted in a new election.

This young voter made her 1st vote today. She was number 200 at her vote office (stembureau) and a bit disappointed that she did not get an apple as her aunt did last election day
