It's a rose. It's blue and it's made of paper.
The whole village is covered in paper flowers and tufts of greenery (real).
Every so-many years - I think it's ten because this is the second time it's happened since I moved here - a painting of the Virgin Mary is moved from one country parish to another. It is called the "Madonna del Giro".
This year, it came here, where it will stay until next September, when some other village will spend a disproportionate amount of money (they raised 16,000 euros here - not bad for a population of only 400!) on paper flowers, a band and fireworks. All to celebrate a picture.
