MONO MONDAY - A RUNNING DIALOGUE

Our friend, Julia, who has kindly loaned us her house for the week, had bought a new table and chairs for her deck, but it was definitely a two-person job to assemble the table - thankfully the chairs came ready assembled - so Mr. HCB had volunteered (well, I actually volunteered him!) to help put it together.

There was certainly a “running dialogue” in the garden this morning :

Julia  - “Whoops, I dropped one of the dowels, good job they didn’t go through the decking!”

Mrs. HCB - “Perhaps it might be a good idea to put it together on the grass, so you wouldn’t have that problem.”

Mr. HCB - “There’s no need for that!”

Mrs. HCB - (who was taking photographs and listening to the running dialogue) - “I think you should read the instructions first.”

Mr. HCB - “There’s no need for that - I know what I’m doing!”

Julia - “Why are there two Allen keys?”

Mrs. HCB - “In case someone is stupid enough to drop one of them down through the decking!”

Mr. HCB - with exasperation in his voice - “There are two Allen keys because you need to tighten up the screws from both ends” - and probably muttering under his breath, "Stupid women!"

Etc etc etc

After much laughter, they eventually decided that it WOULD be a good idea to do the job on the grass - shame you can’t see the video I took but I’ve put a colour photograph in as an extra.  I liked this photograph the best - they did manage to get all the dowels and screws in the right places and Julia did put the four feet into the table legs beautifully!  It’s fair to say that we all had a good time together - followed by a cup of coffee and an Eccles cake.

“Our job on earth isn't to criticize,
     reject, or judge.
Our purpose is to offer
     a helping hand,
          compassion, and mercy.
We are to do unto others
as we hope they would do
          unto us.”
