Beauty Spot

The River Test which flows entirely through Hampshire to the sea at Southampton has the reputation of being one of the finest chalk streams in the country and is world famous for its trout fishing.
On its 44-mile route it passes through some particularly picturesque towns and villages and scenes like this at Kimbridge, near Romsey are part of ts beauty.
The river gives its name to the Test Valley through which it flows and fpr much of its length you can follow the Test Way trail.  The river rises just west of Basingstoke and passes through towns like Stockbridge and Romsey to its estuary at Southampton Docks to join the northern stretches of Southampton Water.

The nature of the river makes it one of a handful of places in the county where its watercress beds play an important part in the economy of the region.
