On the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia

Today was spent driving along part of the Blue Ridge Parkway.
The whole route is over 400 miles long but we joined it at Roanoke through to its Northern end at Rock Fish Gap near Waynesboro, here it turns into the Skyline Drive which we plan to do tomorrow.

The weather has taken a turn for the worse with rain and very low cloud so the 'overlooks' we not as spectacular as they might have been. We did a walk to some Waterfalls and generally soaked up the atmosphere. It is a beautiful place, very green!

We picnicked next to the James River which we saw when we were at Historic Jamestown...but here it is very much smaller. See extra.

I did some of the driving, quite enjoyed it but it is odd being on the wrong side of the road, especially at junctions! Our overnight is another Super 8 in Waynesboro, we went out for Pizza and ended up with rather a lot left over....medium pizza here seems to be the same size as our large at home! At least that's lunch sorted for tomorrow.

5 miles walked today
