Broad bodied chaser

Female of the species.  There were 2 of these around our pond today.  I didn't see any males.  There were also lots of blue and red damselflies.

I went out with the intention of clearing the dead flower stalks in our bog area, left from last year, but on seeing how the dragon flies were using them as perches, I decided to leave them alone.

PS Just realised this is a proper entry for wildwed!

I did pull up large numbers of invading bracken stems, and a few nettles.
