This Edinburgh Life

Bass Rock from Tantallan Castle

For once my day off coincided with spectacular weather so we nipped off to Tantallon Castle just outside North Berwick. It dates from 1350 and was largely destroyed in 1651 after a siege by Cromwell. It is everything you imagine a fortified castle should be, defended by the sea on one side with  huge thick walls and a moat. At one point you could hardly distinguish between the sea and sky as both were such perfect blues.
