Snow Down Under

A FOGGY DAY:

Yay, 10mm of rain overnight - it all helps. I love the way it rains at night leaving me a fine day to work in the garden. It has been overcast again, but very pleasant working conditions. I have spent the afternoon taking Hydrangea cuttings. A crazy idea leapt into my head this week to make a low wall of Hydrangeas up the back, on the edge of all the trees that have been planted. Because of our appalling rabbit population, Peter got me 30 tyres & I've planted out all my previously rooted cuttings, mainly H. Gentian & H. Crushed Raspberry. I did buy 10 new ones, 5 Limelight & 5 Bridal Bouquet. It looks perfectly hideous at the moment, but come summer when they're growing, it should look splendid. I plan to take the row right up the back, & I'm only half way. Another 30 to go !

Because I was working up the back, I took this Blip overlooking the bottom garden. The white wall is part of my garage; because the roof is charcoal it is hard to pick the house out. The lake looks so calm & you can see the 2 silver birches which have featured in a previous Blip. I love working up here........no phone, no cars.......only birdsong & me. It has been a good day.
