Wine,Women & Song

It's chorus season, again!

Who are these women, and what on earth are they doing?

Today was the "second wave" of auditions for Colibri, a new women's sextet. Pictured here are but a few of my fellow auditionees during a break between the Colibri audition, and rehearsal for our other choral group, The Allegra Women's Choir.

We had about 40 minutes to kill in between sessions, so we decided to go for a walk and wound up venturing down back alleys that none of us had ever seen before. This curious bug sign and display (I still have no idea what it was) was one of the interesting things we encountered during our evening stroll.

I can't begin to describe how much fun I've had, and how much I have learned since embarking on my singing adventures about 4 years ago. Despite having extensive musical experience, I had no singing experience prior to joining Allegra, and frankly, had no desire to sing in choruses during high school or college. I soon discovered the joys and nuances of choral work and looked forward eagerly to each week's rehearsal.

So tonight, Allegra began its sixth season with many new faces, a new director, and fresh new songs that will be both fun and challenging to learn and perform. I have no doubt that our musical-choral journey will be the subject of several more blips to come!
