Chilly Grey Saturday

Thank you for all the lovely comments on my steam train blip yesterday. We certainly picked the right day for it - warm and sunny. Today was quite a contrast: grey skies and a cool west wind. Waited all day for the sun to break through, but it never did. So our walk was delayed until early evening.

High above one of the fields we crossed, dozens of gulls were circling. Perhaps there were midges that they were feasting on? Took lots of photos - some of which showed the sheer quantity of birds - but this one, although it shows only eight, I found the most pleasing arrangement.
